Wetu Cookie Policy
Effective from 14 August 2025
1. Who we are
Wetu Tourism Solutions (Pty) Ltd (South Africa) and Wetu B.V. (Netherlands) (“Wetu”, “we”, “us”) jointly operate the Wetu platform, public marketing site, itinerary and iBrochure pages, and associated DNS sub‑domains. We act as joint controllers for any personal data processed through cookies on these properties.
2. Legal basis
- Functional cookies (always active) – processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in delivering a secure, working service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR / POPIA section 11(1)(f)).
- Statistics cookies – set only with your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR / POPIA section 11(1)(b)).
- Marketing cookies – set only with your explicit consent (same legal basis as Statistics).
3. Scope
This notice applies to cookies and similar technologies whenever you browse **wetu.com** or view/embed an itinerary, iBrochure or other Wetu sub‑domain (e.g. itinerary.wetu.com, updates.wetu.com, ibrochure.cloud).
4. Your cookie choices
Our banner lets you accept or refuse two switchable categories:
- Statistics – helps us understand site use and improve features.
- Marketing – allows personalised advertising, conversion tracking and embedded media.
- Functional cookies are always active and cannot be switched off because they are required for the site to work.
5. Cookie categories explained
- Functional (always active): keep you logged in, balance traffic between servers, secure the site, remember language or itinerary selections.
- Statistics (optional): collect aggregated usage metrics (e.g. Google Analytics, Hotjar) to improve performance and user experience. These are anonymised or pseudonymised where possible and never used for advertising.
- Marketing (optional): enable advertising platforms (e.g. Google Ads, LinkedIn) and embedded media (e.g. YouTube) to build a profile of your interests and show relevant content. Refusing Marketing cookies may limit embedded videos or ads.
